Less Art

Less Art

was a zine started in 1986 (following the previous Issue de Secours and Stumptickler , and overlapping with The St. Sebastian record Player and Telegraph Historical Revue ) that consisted largely of found materials. There were approximately 20 issues published, though the numbering system got permanently stuck at 4.

The last print edition of Less Art to date was 1994’s The Gordon Haines Issue, profiling the UCLA sculpture grad with contributions from a dozen of his fellow students. Recent versions include a CDR of music and audio art compiled and distributed in 2006, and a video version designed for cable access television broadcast in collaboration with Lee Lynch.

Doug Harvey's Less Art Radio Zine began broadcasting on pirate radio KCHUNG in December 2013. His first guest was LA-based artist and experimental musician Jim Shaw.
